The San Diego Community College Police Department is a State of California P.O.S.T. Certified Police Department. The SDCCD Police Department changed from a security department to a police department in 1988. It is the largest and most progressive community college police department in the state.

All of our Police Officers have graduated from a California State Police Academy and continually update their skills and knowledge. Our officers continually attend department training in firearms, defensive tactics, line up training in policy and procedures and other training offered throughout the state.

Our Police Officers have powers to arrest on and off campus. We patrol and provide police services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (including holidays) on and around the three main campuses (City, Mesa and Miramar), eight continuing education centers and various San Diego Community College business offices, classrooms and properties across the City of San Diego.
