where and how to report a crime.

Established in 1993, the San Diego Community College Police Defensive Tactics Program was created with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, San Diego Sheriffs, and San Diego Police. The program meets or exceeds State of California standards established by the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST).

Our program has produced seven defensive tactics instructors. Our instructors collectively possess certifications, experience or training in many different subject areas such as Arrest and Controls, Emergency Medical Technician, and Critical Incident Negotiation. We have instructor development courses, training for sworn officers, and training for non-sworn personnel.

We have been innovative in the implementation of effective techniques, team work, and integration of legal knowledge and skills into scenario based training. We train officers to reasonably and effectively deal with difficult, dynamic situations. You may contact the detac team by emailing kolson@sdccd.edu .
