SDCCD PD Welcomes New Sergeant - Louis Zizzo

Sergeant Louis Zizzo started with the San Diego Community College Police Department on Friday, March 30, 2007.

Sgt. Zizzo is a native San Diegan and comes to us with 13 years of experience with SDPD. His first 3 years were at Western Division, 10 were at Mid-City Division and last 6 months were at Eastern Division before joining the SDCCD Police Department.

On a personal note, he is a first generation Italian-American, more specifically Sicilian.  He is bi-lingual and still travels to Italy yearly to visit family.

He states that he is very happy to have come over to the SDCCD Police Department. “I know that I am going to be a very valuable asset to our department and look forward to working with everyone.”

Law enforcement officials, friends and family, supporters and a number of dignitaries gathered at the U.S. Grant Hotel to honor individual achievements at the 16th Annual Peace Officer of the Year awards banquet.  The ceremony kicked off Friday , April 27th at 7:00 p.m. and recognized an officer from each of sixteen law enforcement agencies in San Diego county.

Retired U.S.M.C. Brigadier General and Western Region Federal Security Director Mike Aguilar was the guest emcee for the evening.  Presenting awards this year were District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, S.D.P.D. Chief Bill Lansdowne, Oceanside Chief Frank McCoy and Superior Court Judge Frank Brown.
