College Police kick off Women's History Month by presenting a safety workshop for women at Mesa College.

On March 11, 2009, College Police Officers presented a Self Defense Workshop for Women in the Learning Resource Center at Mesa College.  Officer C. Cavada and College Service Officer D. Griffin conducted the presentation to over fifty staff, faculty and students in attendance.

The presentation was held to promote safety and to kickoff Women's History Month at Mesa College.  Officer Cavada and CSO Griffin are certified instructors of the Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) program, which is a self defense program offered to students, staff, faculty and visitors of the San Diego Community College District by the College Police.  The RAD Program is a national self defense program that teaches self defense, safety awareness and crime prevention to women of all ages.

College Police Officers receive specialized training

Officers Malynda Lutz and Jeffrey Rabine recently completed a temporary training assignment with the San Diego Police Department Detective Division.

Officer Lutz, who has been with the College Police for over a year, worked with Detectives from SDPD Headquarters learning surveillance techniques, specialized enforcement and plain clothes operations.

Officer Rabine was assigned to SDPD Central Division, where he successfully closed eight investigations and conducted follow-up on San Diego City College cases.

This assignment is part of our continued partnership with area police agencies such as the San Diego Police Department.
